Rena's Journey

Rena grew up in the small rural community of Promised Land in Greenwood, South Carolina. She graduated from Greenwood High School in 1981 and from Lander College in 1985.  Ms. Gray has a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education.

After graduation, she started her teaching career in Abbeville, South Carolina as a fifth grade teacher.  Ms. Gray worked in a number of schools in the upstate of South Carolina.  She taught in the Low Country at Allendale-Fairfax Middle School for a short period of time as an eighth grade Science teacher.  For the most part of her professional life,  Ms. Gray taught Math and Science in Greenwood School District 50.

Rena's spiritual journey began in 1982 when she became a Christian during her freshman year of college. She joined the former New Jerusalem Deliverance Temple under the leadership of the late George A. Bates. Later, Ms. Gray became a member of Living Word Tabernacle of Faith Church in Greenwood, South Carolina.

Rena is a mother, grandmother, former middle school educator, blogger, freelance writer, and a lifelong learner. She enjoys reading, writing, and spending time with her grandson, Christian. She has one daughter, Angelica, and two other grandchildren, Arionna and Ariah Gray who reside in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Favor is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that fears the Lord, she shall be praised.
